Week 10

Photo shoot ! For my final,  distressed and embroidered two jean jackets. I also used fabric manipulation on one. I redid the buttons gold from silver and I also added gold to the denim. For the net two piece, I combined a denim fabric in between the seams in order to sew the pieces together (the net was too big to be sewn on it's own, so I had to add a more sturdy fabric to hold it together). I also used fabric manipulation for my accessory pieces (Bra and Corset). For the corset I used vinyl and denim and for the bra i used vinyl and a gold trim.

Beading Back stitch bead embroidery technique  Pearl Knotting Technique Add a small drop of Hypo Tube Cement glue to the knot. Using your chain nose pliers, gently close the clamshell bead  tip over the knot. Using the attached needle, string a  bead  on the silk. Insert the tweezers into the knot and grab the silk directly next to the  bead .   This isn't really a specific beading technique, but I added beads to my denim jacket.

Shibori and Batik techniques  Shibori is a Japanese form of dyeing that revolves around different ways of binding and folding fabric to create different patterns, and is most commonly practiced with indigo dye.   To make a batik, selected areas of the cloth are blocked out by brushing or drawing hot wax over them, and the cloth is then dyed. The parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original color. This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated to create more elaborate and colorful designs. After the final dyeing the wax is removed and the cloth is ready for wearing or showing.   What is Batik? Surface Design on evening gowns or bridal gowns I was recently inspired by Michael Costello's 2017 Fall collection. He designs gowns that are bride like in this collection and does some surface design on the gowns. MC is famously known for his appliques and fabric mixing with sheer panels. in this collection, he uses all of these methods.                 Above, MC uses some appliques on portions of the gowns. He adds ruffles and lace as well.  In these gowns above, you can see the sheer panels incorporated in his designs. He also added fringe to the    first two looks.  This is the type of surface design that I'm into. I love the mixing of the knits with the sheer panels and also the applique. I'm not really interested in fabric dyeing or hand made prints.

Final Project Idea Brainstorm For my final design, I hit a creative road block for a while. In this project, I wanted to mix fabrics and incorporate fabric manipulation in some way. The colors I am using are gold and white. Right now I have some clear vinyl that I already started with that is a bra outlined in a gold fold-over trim. The rest of my design will be a dress that goes over the bra with a pattern that I already had made. This is some of my materials that I already started my project with.  I was inspired by a Croatian fashion brand named Zigman and also by New York based fashion brand The Blonds.  Some designs by Zigman Official that i was inspired by.  This is a design by The Blonds NY that I was inspired by.
